Bahston Part 2...A little history The Freedom Trail

On our one off day Sunday we (Abby, Jen and myself) took a stroll on the freedom trail. The freedom trail winds though Boston past such sites as Bunker Hill, the USS Constitution, Old North Church, and Boston common park. We saw lots of historically important people's areas such as the Old North Church where Paul Revere hung the legendary signal lanterns to warn of the British. We also saw a fair number of dead historic figures including Sam Adams' grave, whom we toasted with a brew named after him in the evening. Rather than bore you with the rest of the details here's some pics of things along the freedom trail we saw.

We started our little adventure at the Bunker Hill Monument. You might be familiar with this quote which cam from here: "Don't fire till you see the whites of their eyes"
There are 300 stairs to get to the top of the monument in a spiraled staircase...good workout.
A rough pano image compilation from two of the windows looking to Boston.
The Freedom trail starts on the B-Hill and is marked by red brick inset in the sidewalks and these seals.
The USS Constitution (also Known as "old Iron Sides") The oldest commissioned Naval vessel.
Sleeping quarters for the crews were different back then.
The wood work is mostly original and has been very well preserved for 200 years.
Cannons become "guns" once they are brought on board a ship.
Lots of neat old fire stations, this one's for the Rescue Squad. =)
Paul Revere's ride up by the Old North Church.
Sam Adams...God bless his soul and memory through American Brewing.
Apparently it was street performers week so we saw a lot of weird shows on the trail.
Somehow I got suckered into a swan boat ride with Jen and Abby but it wasn't too bad after all.
Abby Taking time to pet officer "Magnus" who is 20 years old!
This Boston Common Park Frog had the right call for the ladies.
Boston Common at night is very pretty.
After a visit to the infamous Mike's Pastry in the Italian district we settle on some step to gorge on cannoli .
